TOP TIPS FOR OPEN WATER SWIMMING Swim hard but not too hard, you don't want to go anaerobic. You need to sustain a fast pace for 50>100 meters giving time for people to find their line and space out. Swim with a real economy of effort directly behind the person in fronts feat. Try not to hit their feet though. Breathe every two strokes to ensure you get enough oxygen in. Don't make your first openwater swim the day of your race.
